Why It Is Different

A LinkedIn photo has a harder job.

A headshot for a website bio can afford to be quiet. A LinkedIn photo cannot. It sits beside your name in feeds, search results, and connection requests, usually at a fraction of its real size, competing with everything else on the screen. That changes what the picture has to do.

It has to survive being small

Your profile photo renders around 200 pixels wide in a desktop feed, and closer to 50 in a comment thread. Fine detail disappears at that size. What survives is the shape of your head against the background, the contrast in your eyes, and whether your expression reads instantly. That is why the crop is tighter than a standard portrait and the lighting is built for separation rather than mood.

The background does more than you think

A busy office, a patterned wall, or a bright window pulls attention off your face and turns to noise at thumbnail size. A clean, controlled background does the opposite. It holds the frame together so every version of the image, from a full profile view down to a tiny comment avatar, reads the same way.

Expression carries more than wardrobe

Clothing matters less here than most people expect. What people respond to is whether you look like someone they would take a call with. That is a narrow band between guarded and overfamiliar, and almost nobody finds it alone in front of a camera. It comes from direction, frame by frame, until it lands.

What this session is not

This is one frame, photographed quickly and finished for screen. It is not a full portrait sitting and it is not built for print. If you need a library of images for a website, a press kit, or a speaking bio, that is what the headshot packages and personal branding sessions are for.

FAQ

Good to know.

What resolution do I get?

Your $200 headshot is delivered at a web resolution intended for LinkedIn and social media profile pictures. It looks crisp across every online profile, but is not sized for large-format printing.

How many photos are included?

The $200 package includes one fully retouched image — the single headshot you’ll actually use. Need more looks or print-ready files? See the full range on the headshot packages page.

I’m not photogenic. Will this work?

That’s exactly what the direction is for. Every session is fully guided — posture, angle, and expression — with images reviewed together as we shoot. Nothing is left to guesswork. There is more on this in the Journal.

What should I wear?

Solid mid-to-deep colours photograph best, and a blazer is the most useful single item you can bring. There is a full wardrobe guide to read before you arrive.

Where is the studio?

7071 Orchard Lake Rd, Unit 300, West Bloomfield Township, MI 48322. Sessions are photographed at the studio or on location across Oakland County and Detroit.
